Games Descriptions

Game #1: Kahoot (30 minutes): There will be 25 questions on Kahoot. The teams will receive points based on how many points they get right out of 25, plus points for a ranking system involving the teams with the highest scores (eg. highest score gets 10 points added, second highest gets 9, then 8, so on…)
This will count for 20% of the final score.

Game #2: Valentine’s Day Special: IT'S A MYSTERY!
This will count for 40% of the final score.

Game #3: Are You Smarter than a 12th Grader? (60 minutes): There will be 10 questions ranging from Grade 8 to 12, two questions per grade. A question is worth the Grade level that it is in (So a Grade 8 question is worth 8 points). One person in the team will be sent as the leader to answer the questions. The other members stay in the back, and will also be attempting the questions, but they are not allowed to work together. The final answer is determined by the leader. There is an overall time limit of 45 minutes with no limits per question, so teams should use their time wisely and not spend too much time on a particular question.

When the leader struggles on a question in the given time, they can choose from 2 cheats:

  • Peek: Look at the work and answer from another team member.
  • Copy: Copy the answer from another team member - that will be the final answer.

When a question is given the wrong answer, they can choose from 2 life-saver cheats:

  • Save: If any other team member has the right answer, that is the answer that counts.
  • Switch: The team will not receive the points for the question, and is forced to switch the team leader.

Each cheat may be used once. When all life-saver cheats are used, the team will be eliminated right after the next wrong answer.

If the team finishes all the questions up to Grade 12 or drops out when not in the middle of a question, they will be awarded 10 points. After a team drops out/is eliminated, they can attempt a bonus question worth 15 points (no stakes involved). The team may work on this question together, but only one answer attempt is allowed and no cheats will be given, even if the team still has cheats left.

This will count for 40% of the final score.
